When the file is just gone

Data Recovery Services

A drive fails, a folder vanishes, a laptop takes coffee, or ransomware locks the lot. Data recovery services exist for the worst morning of the quarter: getting your files back, fast, and in an order that matches how the business actually runs.

The three recoveries, and how each one goes

Deleted or corrupted files are the common case: someone overwrote the estimate spreadsheet, or a sync client ate a folder. With managed backups in place this is a same-hour restore, down to picking which Tuesday's version you want back. Failed hardware is the second case: a drive that clicks, a laptop that will not post, a server volume gone read-only. We recover what software can reach, image the media before touching anything twice, and when the damage is physical we work with specialist lab partners rather than pretending a cleanroom fits in a van. Ransomware is the third case, and the one where recovery order matters most: systems come back from clean backups only after the entry point is closed, because restoring into an infected network is paying to be robbed twice.

What decides whether recovery succeeds

Mostly the decisions made before the failure. A tested backup turns a catastrophe into an inconvenience, which is why our first question is not what failed but when a restore was last proven to work. Federal guidance says the same thing: the government's own IT disaster recovery planning guide centers on backup strategy for exactly this reason. The second decider is restraint in the first hour. A failing drive gets worse with every power cycle, and well-meaning attempts to fix it are how recoverable data becomes unrecoverable. Stop, note what happened, and call.

What our data recovery services include

Triage first: what is lost, what is at risk, what the business needs back first, in writing within the first conversation. Then the recovery itself, from backup, from the volume, or from imaged media, with priority given to the systems that make payroll and invoices happen. Then the honest report: what came back, what did not, and precisely what change prevents the sequel. Recovered does not mean finished until that last part lands.

After the save

Almost every engagement ends the same way: the client moves their backups into management so the next failure is boring. That work lives with business continuity, where backups get schedules, offsite copies and scheduled restore tests, while enterprise data protection hardens the data nobody can afford to lose and malware protection deals with the cause when the cause was criminal. Data recovery services get you out of the hole; the rest of the stack fills the hole in.
